GPS area measurement methods

Postby Balazs Hober » Fri May 15, 2009 11:36 am

In DigiTerra Explorer there are four area measuring methods:

1. Continuous measuring

Look at the following tutorial to learn how to measure an area with the continuous method:

2. Stop & go (measuring at the corners). In this method we average GPS positions for each vertexes.

3. Mixed mode (combining 1 + 2)

4. Measuring multi-polygons

Hello,
is it possible to avarage the vertexes of lines too?
It would like to measure the corners of lines seperatly and record the positions of about 30 seconds, to increase the accuracy.

Regards gs

Of course, the averaging can be used on the vertexes of the line feature also!

Hello there!

Iwould like to know the way to collect an area using stop ang go and in the same area mark a vertex freehand (in a situation i cannot go phisically to that vertex). I also would like to understand if collecting an area with such method it will affect the post processing.

Thanks!

Hello,

If you use laser based measurement device, like TruePulse, you can save different vertecs in your survey.
Manually adding (non post-processable) vertex points when your in-surveying?
Sorry, in 2010 Februar, you cannot reach this feature.

I can recommand this method now:
When you make GPS measure outdoor, just measure all vertecs, all poligon, all objects. When you finish them, go beck to the office,
make the post-processing. And id you would like edit your work, use the editing tools in Explorer.

Tip:
If you use the Point-Info layer type, you can save the vertex data for all vertex separetly, when your area- or line-measuring in progress!
(It is not same just similar function.)
