Layer file sizes

Postby jamesengland » Wed Mar 27, 2013 11:41 pm

I wanted to ask the forum what is the largest GIS layer of any format that people are using on a mobile device that runs Windows Mobile?

There is no limitation.
If you like to use vector data, I suggest the DigiTerra Map/Tab format - this is the faster and smaller filetype for mobile usage, because we designed it to fast mapping.
I think is you have a really big areas there is better to split your files.
In Windows Mobile all of the program has (- comes from the opertion system -) limited memory to use (~20 MB)
I suggest the file size about 10 Mb - but you can use bigger ones too, it is possible - but you have to be patient, if you zomm out to extends.
The maximum file size depends on the number of the attributtes, too.
